Often financial troubles lead people to debt consolidation as an easy solution. But, this can lead to greater debt. Sometimes it makes sense to consolidate your loans. However, when you tie it to the equity in your home, it may lead to a loan you really can't afford. If you can't make your new payment, you could lose your home.
